James & Lawrence Meier Food for Families Fund

The Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation is proud to support Archbishop O’Neill Council #8896 in its efforts to combat food insecurity. Through the generosity of the James and Lawrence Meier Food For Families Fund, the Foundation has enabled the distribution of six $500 cheques—totalling $3,000—to agencies dedicated to addressing food insecurity daily.

This initiative reflects our shared commitment to serving those most in need and making a meaningful impact in our communities. We commend Archbishop O’Neill Council #8896 for their dedication and thank them for their continued partnership in this important work.

Cheque Presentation to Wynyard Food Bank

Bishop Roborecki Council 7436 in Wynyard is proud to present a donation cheque from the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation to the Wynyard Food Bank.

Representing the Wynyard Food Bank are Shannon Gronick and Steph Cuddington. From Bishop Roborecki Council 7436, Program Director Orest Shular and Financial Secretary Yves Lalonde were in attendance.

A symbolic moment was captured as Steph Cuddington and Orest Shular shook hands during the presentation, highlighting the spirit of community and support.

Council 1731 Presents Donations from Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation to Support Local Food Programs

On June 6, 2025, members of Council 1731 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, proudly presented donations on behalf of the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation to support vital food programs in the community.

The first presentation was made to the Salvation Army, Weyburn Branch, where a cheque for $2,500 was delivered to assist with their ongoing food initiatives. Pictured left to right are Council 1731 Treasurer Brother Ray Ball, Salvation Army Community Ministries Worker Nicole Strickland, and Council 1731 Grand Knight Richard Wick. This generous contribution will help the Salvation Army continue its mission of providing meals and support to individuals and families in need.

The second donation was presented to St. Michael School in Weyburn. A cheque for $500 was given to support the school’s food program, helping ensure students have access to nutritious meals throughout the school year. These donations, made possible through the James and Lawrence Meier Food For Families Fund of the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation, reflect the Knights’ enduring commitment to charity and community service. Council 1731 is proud to be part of this effort to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local families and children.

On behalf of the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation, Mr. James and Mrs. Alma Meier had the honour of presenting a cheque to Grand Knight Gord Hagan of Swift Current Council 3031. This donation is in support of the Council’s Children’s School Breakfast Program.

Council 3031 will also donate to the schools with proceeds from their vegetable garden initiative, to help provide nutritious meals to students in the Swift Current area.

On behalf of the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation, Mary Mother of the Church Council #11888 was honoured to present a $3,000.00 cheque to Father Daniel Yasinski on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

This donation is designated to support the parish’s food distribution program, which provides essential assistance to individuals and families in need of financial support to purchase food.

Adrien Piche took the photograph following the celebration of Mass. The cheque presentation took place just before the final blessing, in front of a full congregation and a packed gymnasium.

Council #11888 extends its sincere gratitude to the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation, particularly through the  James and Lawrence Meier Food For Families Fund, and in partnership with the DeSchryver Family Endowment, for their generous support.

On behalf of the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation, Moose Mountain Council #10317 in Carlyle proudly presented a donation of $3,000.00 to the Carlyle & District Food Bank. This vital organization, operated by dedicated volunteers since 1989, provides monthly food hampers to individuals and families in need throughout the region. George Anderson, Financial Secretary; Theresa Luedke, Manager of the Carlyle & District Food Bank; Jerry Weber, Trustee; and Ray Boutin, Grand Knight, attended the presentation.
