Third Week of May – Sask KofC Charitable Foundation Supporting Youth Services

Why is the charitable Foundation featuring these Youth Support Services Grant applications? Well, as all Knights of the Province know, we are called to continually practice and live out our principles of charity, unity, and fraternity. Our foundation, which was created in 1969, exists due to the generosity of our members and donors, and through these efforts demonstrates the meaningful impact that this collective generosity can achieve. One of the areas that the Foundation clearly supports and advocates for is helping young people develop leadership, creativity, resilience, and community. Occasionally,  we at the Foundation get to see the fruits of our deliberations and work in evaluating the applications to the different areas we support.

This episode then features the MyGen Youth Rally that recently occurred in the Archdiocese of Regina. What is this MyGen Youth Rally you may ask? Since 2013, MyGen has been welcoming grade 9-12 youth from across all of Saskatchewan to come together and celebrate their faith within a vibrant Catholic community! This year’s MyGen Rally took place on March 21st at Archbishop M.C. O’Neil High School in Regina, with a central topic of “What’s My Story,” which gets the attendees to “take a moment to look back and see how God has walked with you through every moment of your lives, and then share those stories with others”.

The rally was held from 9:30 am to 11:30 pm and provided our youth with an experience of community while creating opportunities for them to grow in their faith. The Foundation realizes and supports these rallies that reach out to young adults, allowing them an opportunity to nourish and guide them as faith role models, and encouraging our senior generations to hope for and build the future of the Church. A stated goal of this MyGen program for the youth who attended was that “they hope that you will come to learn not only what it means to follow Christ, but HOW you can follow Christ in your everyday life”. The MyGenrally.ca website has testimonials by 6 of the students that bear witness to the value of these rallies amongst our young people – it is worth watching these testimonials.

As in the posts of the previous two weeks, the Sask K of C Charitable Foundation, through its Grants and Bursaries committee, was pleased to approve this grant application because it created opportunities for the youth in our province to grow in their faith and to begin the process of becoming leaders within our faith.

Providing Help, Creating Hope

Since 1969, the Sask K of C Charitable Foundation has dedicated itself to creating, administering and advocating for programs and services that help families in need. Through our various programs, we have focused on assisting families to overcome life’s obstacles that threaten their self-sufficiency. Last year, we provided services to many families in Saskatchewan and touched the lives of countless others through our advocacy and convening efforts.

Cash Calendars

The Sask K of C Charitable Foundation has developed a Cash Calendar Fundraiser, with only 5000 calendars being printed.   The 2027 Calendar features photos with text from 12 recipients of donations from the Foundation.

The cash calendar will have 64 draws throughout the year with a total payout of $25,000.00 in cash prizes.  All Saskatchewan Knight of Columbus Councils will sell these calendars in the province for $40.00 per calendar.

Please contact the Knights of Columbus Council in your community to purchase your calendar and participate in this exciting project.

“In Memoriam” Program

Honour someone you love, remember someone you miss…

The In Memoriam program is an excellent method to commemorate deceased loved ones.

  • It is a very effective expression of sympathy to families grieving the recent loss of a loved one.
  • It is also an opportunity to honour the memory of a loved one’s special day or memory, such as a birthday, a couple’s wedding anniversary, an anniversary of a loved one’s death, or any other special event.

The “In Memoriam” program also encourages Councils, Brother Knights, and their families to include the Sask K of C Charitable Foundation as a preferred charity in their end-of-life planning and discussions with funeral chapel directors.
