A Remarkable Gift Rooted in Faith, Heritage, and Gratitude

A Remarkable Gift Rooted in Faith, Heritage, and Gratitude

The Sask K of C Charitable Foundation is honoured to share a unique story of generosity—one that reflects the lasting power of faith, family, and community.

Although we normally do not disclose information about donations received, this gift is exceptional. It comes from the estate of Dr. Don Kramer, a Toronto dentist who passed away five years ago. Dr. Kramer was the son of John Kammermayer of Langenburg, and while their names differed, John’s 1982 obituary confirms their family connection, listing one son: Don (Kammermayer) Kramer.

Despite spending his entire career in Toronto, Dr. Kramer never forgot the deep roots of his upbringing in Langenburg, Saskatchewan, or the profound influence that his Catholic faith had on him during his formative years. As a final expression of gratitude for the values instilled in him, he designated a significant portion of his estate to benefit the Saskatchewan Catholic community—specifically the Langenburg CWL, the Archdiocese of Regina, and the Langenburg Knights of Columbus Council #5408.

Because Council #5408 is not able to issue charitable receipts, the Council recommended to Dr. Kramer’s executor that the Sask K of C Charitable Foundation accept the funds on their behalf. After more than five years of estate administration, we are pleased to share that the final portion of the donation has now been received and all corresponding receipts have been issued.

The Saskatchewan K of C Charitable Foundation is deeply moved by Dr. Kramer’s generosity. His thoughtful bequest demonstrates that regardless of where life leads us, the influence of our faith and our early community endures. We also extend our sincere thanks to St. Joseph Council in Langenburg for recognizing the Saskatchewan K of C Charitable Foundation as their partner and Charity of Choice for this remarkable donation.

As we reflect on this meaningful gift, we encourage all members of the Knights of Columbus to consider the Sask K of C Charitable Foundation when preparing your own estate plans. Your legacy can continue to support the faith and values that have shaped your life—just as Dr. Kramer so beautifully demonstrated.
