Supporting Northern Saskatchewan Communities Affected by Wildfires
This past summer, several communities in northern Saskatchewan were severely impacted by extreme wildfires. Many residents were forced to evacuate their homes for months, creating significant hardship and uncertainty. While firefighters worked tirelessly and heroically to save hundreds of residences, some families experienced devastating losses—losing their homes and personal belongings entirely.
Recognizing the profound challenges and emotional strain faced by these families, the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation sought to respond with compassion and solidarity. In partnership with the Archdiocese of Keewatin–Le Pas, the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation committed to providing financial support through Catholic parishes in northern Saskatchewan.
One of the communities most affected was La Ronge. The town has a strong history with the Knights of Columbus, having once been home to a vibrant council within the parish. Today, former Knights remain active members of the Catholic community, making St. John Vianney Parish in La Ronge a natural and trusted partner in the distribution of relief funds.
Through the generosity of Knights of Columbus members across the province and support from K of C Supreme Council, the Sask K of C Charitable Foundation was able to provide a donation of $17,157.60 to St. John Vianney Catholic Church. This contribution is intended to assist parish families who lost everything in the fires, helping support them as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding their lives.
In addition to this financial assistance, the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation offers its continued prayers, compassion, and support to the parishioners of St. John Vianney Parish and the wider La Ronge community. We stand with you during this time of recovery and pray for strength, healing, and hope as you rebuild your vibrant community.
God Bless,
The Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation
The Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation is pleased to share an update on our Saskatchewan Forest Fire Relief Project. Thanks to the generosity of Knights of Columbus members and supporters across the province, financial assistance has been provided to families affected by the 2025 northern wildfires.
We are grateful to La Ronge Council 9277 Past Grand Knight Warren Kelly for presenting the contribution on behalf of the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation, and to St. John Vianney RC Parish and the Archdiocese of Keewatin–Le Pas for helping ensure the funds reached those in need.
